I thought maybe some folks were running smaller compressors on the small grinders. Mine is similar. I think it's 3HP. It runs a regular die grinder at a decent RPM, so it should work for these.
When my 33 gallon was down waiting on parts, I used a 4 gallon Bostich as a fill-in. Wasn't ideal, but it worked

Regarding air compressors, CFM rating is what you need to consider vs the air consumption of the tool. As mentioned, a standard die grinder will go through huge amounts of air and the only type of compressor that can keep up is a high CFM two stage.
I have a 5hp compressor with two 60 gallon tanks and I can run that thing out of air with a die grinder. Most of the time, it doesn't because as previously stated, you're not typically running something continuously. However, if running an air sander or grinder it will use up the air.
Some of the smaller tank air compressors such as those designed for running roofing nailers actually have a pretty good CFM rating. A pencil grinder would of course use way less air than a die grinder.

Any pics of the compressors you guys are running? I've got like a 25 gal, 100 psi max garage compressor. I don't have a small compressor. Maybe something I need to look into.
Here's my chitty chitty bang bang.

This is the assortment of things I use to do my port work but now that's different now with my new set up for dremel work I realize I'll still be using files and sandpaper and other stuff but I'm hoping I'll be able to do better detail work without taking the extra time that it would take me to with this old dremel. Lol.

I have a old 60 gal big red snapon i rebuilt. While i was repairing that unit i found a new harbor freight 21 gal single cylinder oiled 125psi compressor new in box with extended warranty of 2 years for $75. I snatched it up and have abused the hell out of it for about 8 years. One day i da sanded a fiberglass tano cover a whole pickup long box with tail gate. That poor compressor never shut off for atleast 8 hours well maybe a few times. Still builds air pretty quick and still loud as hell but id recommend that model to anyone for the 179 they are before any sale coupon.

Search ebay for foredom hand piece.

If you're looking for a 90° handpiece for your motor, cc specialties has them for about $400.
I found one for $31 but not sure how good it would be. Lol

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Harbor freight motors and hand pieces. Take the flex shaft out clean and oil them and they will do you well. I run three of those and a foredom.

I cannot speak of the air driven 90* heads, I use a CC for the uppers. If you are serious about your finish dont piss around and buy a 90*. You will NOT get into the tunnels the way you need to without one.

I used to buy those, they need a fair bit of work to operate nicely, the way they come they’ll get too hot to hold in less than a minute. The top needs to be opened up a bit to fit on the foredom shaft. The bearing bores are not straight and usually not deep enough.

I'll agree with that. I wrap gorilla tape around them so the end doesn't loosen up. I end up not feeling the heat as much because of that. The few that I bought from you run much cooler

I'm looking at the electric route. I like the 'plug 'n play' idea and the foot pedal--it's a lot less fiddly, I think. And, I don't have to bring airhoses in the house during winter.
