Sadly I've killed more deer with a vehicle than I've shot one year my old 91 f150 took out seven other time's three with a grand am two with my tundra i don't even drive fast they just came out of nowhere at 3am on my way to work so everyday's pretty much deer season here.

Here in Illinois I joke that road hunting of deer is perfectly legal. People look at me funny. Well in a sense it is. You can put a nice big bumper on your truck and cruise through the state parks smacking deer. You just back up to them toss them in the bed and you are set. There is no reporting laws here unless you are involving a insurance company. Now if you are driving through ditches and fields well................

If you are a hunter, it is still a good idea to report it. Just in case the DNR want a peak in your freezer and there are more deer than tags.

I could see that being a problem if it was excessive but pictures are documentation. The Illinois DNR factor deer/vehicle incidents into setting seasons and "limits". This is especially used for the late winter antlerless seasons. It is done on a county by county basis. If there is a high number of reported incidents in a particular county they will get the late winter seasons. If the number of vehicle incidents reported drops they lose the seasons. The choice to report incidents can come down to what your opinion is on the deer population. As I have said before opinions vary. I have a strong opinion taht many do not share including the DNR

I had a cop tell me that. Main thing os tjey just half to be between you and the exit and your good. If its on your property your covered under castle doctrine. Any were else is stand your ground.

I just went through the concealed carry course here in my state...not all states have the stand your ground law. its a weird gray area, but you can use "justifiable force" if you feel "threatened" ....also I believe Wisconsin has whats called the "duty to retreat" which is the exact opposite of stand your ground. all these laws about whether or not you can blast someone really get in the way of actually blasting someone.

I wish our laws here matched that. Here if you hit it you can't take it home. They guy behind you can but if you hit it and take it then you are "poaching".

I am not saying that if it is clear you are out to run over them the law will not get involved. It has to be a clear violation though such as driving through the ditch etc. Here you can have your name put on a list that the law will call you when someone hits a deer and does not want it

When I first took my CCC 10 years ago here in Kansas is was meet force with force so if they didn't have a gun you couldn't draw and if you couldn't fight then you taking a beating. And then they passed a stand your ground law. I wish we had a shoot to kill after dark trespassing law like Texas. I would have copper pipe in concrete with a spot light.
