I really hope Randy can make it. I'd love to meet the guy after doing business with him & talking to him on the phone. Heck I'd like to meet all you guys after joining this forum. Lots of knowledge here's about saws as well as many other things. Feel like I've got a lot more in common with many here than with most people I rub shoulders with on a day to day basis!:)

I've been thinking how nice it would be if we could stand up some short chunks of logs to practice felling cuts on. It's just an idea and I don't know how to make it reality. I'm fairly confident in my felling abilities using a conventional cut but would really like to get some "on the job training" using a Humboldt from the experts. I haven't used it much and it amazes me how the guys angle the saw down and dog in on the one side of the cut and get it to line up on the other side. I can do it on a conventional but it just feels foreign trying a Humboldt like that. Maybe a full wrap handle is the key?

If it costs 650.00 for airfare....I probably can't afford to go.

Randy, if you can make it, I'm sure a lot of us will help out with the cost.

Full Chisel, I'm sure a lot of it is practice. If you had to do it multiple times every day, after a while you are just bound to get better at it. Since I just do it occasionally, I know I will never match the skills of some of the masters, but I love watching it and learning from it.

I know what your saying. I don't do it every day so I typically stay with what I know. Just having someone looking over your shoulder that knows more and could pass you tip is extremely helpful. I don't have that opportunity. What cutting I do is on my own for meself or for others. I don't do a lot of falling for myself. Once you get the feel it's like riding a bike. I'd rather not fall off the bike when people are paying me to do a job.

I'd feel weird letting someone pay my way.

If I make it to NY GTG this year I would be happy to contribute to getting Randy there. Same reason as Mike I'd like to meet you Randy and its more difficult for me to get to Tennessee!

By the way Mike my buddy Jim loves the 262 he bought from you. I know you got it in trade and passed it on but he's impressed with the saw.

I'm glad. I had 0 experience with a stock 262 and no time to play with it.
