Carl,

I love how you made it custom, but easily serviceable in the future.
Thank you that was my goal. A work saw. If not most likely I would have took some off the dome of the piston in the same arc. Just thinned it some to allow for a lighter piston. And if i were keeping it I may try to move the ring ends. But I just don't trust it.

Mike Lee told me a safer way to move them, at least the top one.

Drill hole through crown the pin the top ring. Insert pin. Lose the bottom ring.

If you wanna try that, send me the piston when its done and ill tig 4340 over the pin hole you make in the crown. Ill sand it down and the pin will be trapped between the dome and the ring gap.

Can ya draw me a picture Doc? I'm not seeing what you are describing... The pin goes horizontal doesn't it? What does the hole down from the top do?

And here's the solmar. I wanted to wait till I tried the exhaust mod on this saw. But this cylinder is a fail. I have killed the saw. I will most likely go home and raise the crap out of this exhaust and see if I can salvage a cant saw from it but I've lost my torque. Not what I wanted to do. Yes I show my fails as well.

I respect showing your fails.

Don't look too bad at all Carl. I'd even say it looks pretty good.

Still sounded and looked like it ran good.
If everything always worked out good, we would never learn anything. Doing thing wrong is how we learn, unfortunately. Lol

You added a lot of Case volume with your spacer and opening those lowers.

Willing to try raising your uppers a bit?

I bet they need to be higher with all that extra volume.
