how many hp is the D501? my D600 is 3.5 hp btw you need to send me that D501.

I think the HP is the same Jake , only difference I know of with the 501 series is needle bearing in the crank bottom .

Well I had 2 and sold one , didn't think there was much point in keeping 2 as this one should outlast me .

replace the seals to they are prone to leaking.

Good advice. I was just ready to post that my '77 wouldn't pull any gas into the cylinder and we know what that usually means. Well, the lower seal is completely gone. I have one on the way from Jack's though.

The mower is in such good shape that it doesn't seem likely to have munched a seal but the whole seal is missing. Oh well......The quest continues.

Some things are easy to find, and others like the carb float took me to 3 dealers to find it. The older the dealership, the better your chances I think.

parts are out there. you can find them on ebay or buried in a small engine shop certain things are harder to find than other like gas tanks or shrouds, lawnboy still produces parts for older models and parts are reasonably priced.

nothing lasts for ever i recommend you replace the flywheel side seal. run a good ashless oil and you shouldn't have any problems.
these engines spec a CJ14 champion plug btw.

10-4 on that. All my air cooled motors run on Saber since the 1970's, oil selection is not on my things to do list anymore.
The only thing I've found that makes the biggest difference is not using the ignition switch to shut them down. I use the gas shut off and run them out at idle. That '69 model started on the second pull this Spring and usually the first pull during season.

I want a mower to be a worker, not a sitter because I can't get this one seal. Thanks for the info!

Got it sorted out and runs great. It needed a seal and a coil. Starts on first pull like a LawnBoy should.

There are a couple of new in box lawnboys on the local craigslist. $1000+ dollars each.

Be a cool find for a serious collector , not sure if it would interest most tho as they would likely want older .

I was really excited when I got the 2 new D series engines last winter .

I have been running a Lawnboy two cycle mower since I started cutting grass at age 11.
My current LB is a Commercial Duraforce 22261. I am on the lookout for a M-series Commercial with the oil injection and the Suzuki motor.

Shouldn't be too hard to find but getting one for the right price might be , I guess a lot of the landscapers grab them yet .

I have seen a few come up for sale, but they are either neat up or the seller wants over a grand for them.

Lots of good buys out there , you just have to fix what the previous owner screwed up in most cases .
