He'd just have no tv or video games again unless he paid for them. Done.
you guys are too nice
i say beat his ass
take away his phone tv and no letting him out with friends
make him work off the cost of the tv and still not give him back the tv
if he wants a tv he can work for another one

We had a non union outfit here for more than 20 years and they were terrible. Something worked out under the table I’m guessing. But they had a few fatalities that took them out of our plants. Sad that it took that to get them out. Also sad that they let their safety fail enough to lose men.

we are trained and we have lost a couple on the job over stuff overlooked
the last job i was on that there was a death it was a insulator working on a duct that we was going to be replacing while it was running me and 2 other guys was about 40 feet above it when it happened and the guys i was working with said they could hear him screaming

needless to say that doesnt happen anymore and if caught on duct off a walkway you get fired
we are not allowed to cross a handrail even if scaffolding on both sides
the iron workers have to cut sections out and carpenters have to put in swing gates
if they catch you with a handle or guard missing off a grinder you get fired even if it is stored unplugged in your bucket with cord wrapped around it
we have to be tied off on anything 4 feet or more above a landing and yes safety guys do measure the heights of the work area
safety violations make it where you are not only fired from the company working for but also the power company we work at

its gotten so the only thing they *b-word about anymore on safety walkdowns is housekeeping which mean very little

All of this is why Ops like me and Trades like you two need to have a proper defined permitry system and clear and honest communication. Workplace deaths are not ok. Equipment needs to be properly isolated and prepared before handover, and likewise on handback. "We don't work in a cake factory" is a common statement here, which i always think kinda under-states how dangerous the rotating equipment can be even in a bakery.

No harness on the lagger that fell @dall?

he was a insulator and he was tied off but it didnt catch quick enough
the air going through the duct is in the 800 degree range and where he fell the duct is only about 6 feet tall

Good point. We have a lot of new faces in operations that are not familiar with the system as much as a seasoned worker. Me being a craft worker I like to go help the new operators learn the systems when I’m not busy. The younger ones that like to learn are always pleasant to help. Also helps me stay fresh on the systems that I’m responsible for so it’s a win win.

Stupid about being tied off @ 4 feet. Lots of lanyards are long enough that you will hit the ground before it catches you even at 6 '

alot of retractables are used now
the carpenters do their best to make it where no tie off if possible we usually have the same carpenters on the jobs so crafts usually have a good relations with other crafts
Just got the text to report to the principal's office tomorrow afternoon for a review of the next job I'm going to run. Small bank inside the hockey arena.

My son got mad at his game and hit his tv with his PS4 control and smashed the screen. I’m not a fuggin’ happy camper right now

You’ve covered this quite well, his TV his problem.

Maybe also needs to get some anger out, maybe chopping wood or something?

When Elliott gets hyper playing his games I make him go outside and run circles around the island in the middle of our street, amazing what a little fresh air and activity can do for them.

Totally this. My dad was a Fitter Turner (Spanners, Lathes) and i could have so easily ended up as a Tradie (Crafter?). Ops and Trades should work together. I'll spin spec blinds, carry scaffold planks and have even barrowed concrete onsite on jobs i was overseeing. Work together.

Operations is a craft as well though really. It’s Important to have a good seasoned operator on each shift if possible
