I hooked up with a small tree company at the gas station earlier. They had a small load in their truck and I offered them a place to drop it. I'm not sure what it is and never asked them. Any ideas?

I would say Black cherry as well. Bark is spot on and it ranges into Michigan. It burns, but has lower BTU output. We mix it with other woods when we have a lot.

Looking cherryish to me... throw some on the smoker and enjoy! Not the hottest burning wood, but sure smells good on the fire

Not black cherry at lest didn't look like it to me. Maybe choke cherry or Serbian cherry. Maybe black but looks different than ours here in PA.

Came home to a big pile they left again today. Not sure what it is again but it's green! I'll take what I can get for free:) I'm finally getting ahead on my stock and only noodling and splitting I'll take it all!

The other day before the big storm we were to have "bomb cyclone"(morons at the weather service) my neighbor have 4 beutiful oaks dropped and i passed on the wood due to the coming storm. Man I can kick myself in the ass for it but its easier on the ears getting more wood then listen to the wife *b-word about a huge pile on the front lawn.

Yea.. I'm waiting for that storm.....
I've been splitting by hand but probably should get something hydraulic to speed it all up: )

I felt the same way about getting a hydraulic. Then I got a beautiful one and I am getting fat lol. But I was definitely faster with a maul then the splitter in the end. I just went around hitting all those rounds to pieces. Now I have all these steps....pickup, place on splitter, activate hydros, turn wood, pickup pieces that fell......uh im tired. Lol
