They're supposed to be real good at protecting you while using a chainsaw, but I'd be using while using my string trimmer.

The wire mesh seems like it would resist fogging up in the cold weather brilliantly.

I currently use a NoCry clear plastic face shield and let me tell you, it has saved my face and eyes many times over.

Here's the question : For you guys that have used the wire mesh visors, how well can you see out of them clarity wise?

I use my chainsaw helmet with mesh shield while trimming. You can see well with it except when the sun is in your face.

Do you guys wear safety glasses under the wire mesh; or don't you think the wire mesh protects you good enough by itself?
Yeah, I forgot to mention, I do wear protective glasses under my face shield, I have had a number of times things ricochet off my chest and bounce up off the back side of the face shield and onto my face....glasses saved the day.

When I weedeat I wear an old Stihl ear muff/mesh shield set, and just bought a similar setup from Bailey's for my grandson. I can see through it very well, unless the sun hits at just the right angle, then there's a "glare" on the mesh.

I wear large-lense prescription glasses with polycarbonate lenses all the time; if I did not I would wear safety glasses with the shield, at least while weedeating. I don't use the mesh shield while mowing or cutting wood, but I'd not be without glasses of some type while doing either.

The wire mesh works great; visibility is fine. My problem is the durability. I sweat profusely. The wire mesh can rust away after a few uses, so it is not an option for me; at least not an affordable option.

I sweat a lot too but I haven't noticed any rusting. Mine might be plastic, I'll have to look.
If you have a plastic one, let me know because I want one. I like the face shield; they work. I did not take a picture but I had a big splinter fly under my safety glasses (while running trimmer/weed eater) and stick me right below the eye (was not wearing face shield). I was shocked that it got behind the glasses and that close to my eye.

I’ve had that same problem, although not to that extent. I hit mine occasionally with flat black (to reduce glare) Rustoleum occasionally, brushing with a soft bristle stainless wire brush to remove buildup from the last coat. It wouldn’t take much to start filling up the screen, so I use quick light passes.

Mine is the homeowner Husqvarna helmet not the more expensive pro helmet.

I was thinking maybe some of them might be a plastic mesh like they have in some oil filters.
