I love all the 250R's, no matter how many wheels they have.
Baby Uncle got Skint on the 200R they grew up ridding: he promised it if it ever got him back to the house that day, the R wouldn't have to worry about him again; and he's not been back on it.

I grew up in the 250r era. I miss those days. Lot of fun back then.

The newer 450r is a badass, no doubt, but the 2 smoke is an altogether different animal.
I've got a yfz450 that reminds me of the old Honda, handling wise. Power is totally different, but the stock suspension is better.

One cousin had the Yamy, the other had the 450R, and the neighbor had the zuki: all 3 were no slouches.

I had a tricycle motor already, so I mostly watched.

I raced mx and harescrambles in the heydays of the 2 smokes. I ran a Banshee in '88 & 89 against the Suzuki and Honda 250R's. I could compete with either in harescrambles but, the Hondas were hard to beat in mx. I became a Honda guy in '91 and my results got much better.

Having tried a few of stihl's finest brushcutters recently, I still incline strongly to a variety of others' products (e.g. Echo, Tanaka, Hitachi for starters) mainly because of their much lower weight and better maneuverability/controllability. They make me MUCH more productive, than stihl's fs-460 or fs-310 for instance. Never mind the huge price difference.
Less (weight/bulk) is more (work done).
Ferinstance, my antique 21 cc Echo has made $620 stihl fs-310 and $1200 stihl fx-460 look pathetic whacking brush. Ditto 26 cc Tanaka over them.
Too bad Echo's essentially stopped making these machines with rigid splined steel shaft drive, AFAIK. Not Tanaka, Hitachi.
