So ive acquired this, appears to be 1987 Stihl 064 Arctic, but flywheel,
as I have a spare 064 Flywheel laying around, i figured i could just convert it to a regular 064, but then realized that flywheel does NOT fit on a cone part of the crankshaft.

What flywheel goes for this type of crankshaft, forgot to take a number, but the conrod is yellow-orange-ish.

For whatever reason 044 flywheel fits on cone part.

Flywheel that does NOT fit.

Thank you for that.

Ok, according to that thread, original flywheel was "1122 400 1206" ... or ... ""1122 400 1207"
Coil is Bosch E1-V "1122 400 1300"

And now just to figure which another flywheel fits on conical part of the crank.

Looking at this a little differently…

You’re sure that’s an 064, right? Can you post a couple other pics of the saw? Specifically pto side case half.
Here’s an 064 crank. There have been many changes to the crankshaft during the 1122 series, but I’ve combined several flywheel combinations onto this style (aluminum fw) shaft.

If that fw you have doesn’t fit, here are a couple possibilities-
1. You have an 044.
2. 1125 crankshafts have gone through a myriad of changes. From 1113 marked connecting rods to completely different fw side designs, they sometimes look off… but all will mount and fit the entire 034-360 series of fws. If you say the known 1122 fw won’t fit on the taper, then something is off.

Gotcha…1122 and 064 due to oiler design (uses a line to the bar pad area rather than a casting in the case) and other nuances.

With the keyway removed and the fw seat area (hole) cleaned of any burrs, can you get it on so the threaded area is visible? How far can it go on the taper?

Ok, ive tried putting 064 flywheel on another 064 crank, it fits, then i tried 044 fw on that same crank and it FITS,
turns out the taper is completely the same, BUT fw hits the oil seal and cant go down further.

So i just need a shorter tapered flywheel. ... ?

How deep should oil seal be? Its flush with the crankcase hole as seen on the 2nd pic.

The FW seal needs to be set deeper on 064s. If I don’t have my driver, I use the FW to carefully tap the seal in. Then pull fw (it could be stuck back on shaft) and carefully tap the seal just a whisker more with the appropriate socket. Not too deep, not too shallow. It goes in a bit more than most other Stihl’s.

See the fw stub that protrudes from the fw body? That rides in the recess and gets close to that seal. It should clear it and not touch, or else that seal will eventually fail and you’ll leak air.
Did you install seals and bearings? There’s a chance that you can see the original seal line on the case. Just tap it carefully to that point, make sure your fw clears and seats well. You’ll then be ready to dig into the abyss that is coil and fw combinations for this series lol.

Damn, thats smart, and i did just that, used FW to drive the seal as deep as it goes, then put thin copper gasket under FW to go just a tad deeper.
And now it fits!
Both 064s came completely dissasembled, and this is the first one im assembling, so i didnt have a reference point for assembly. I was afraid that crankshaft lip will grind and destroy the seal.

Thank you, sir!

No problem… glad it worked out for ya. Post any questions ya got here. JacobJ, Mastermind, doc, and many others have a ton of knowledge. I’ve built up five or six of this series and like ‘em a lot. Good luck!!
