I'm sure there are some more "traditional" wet shavers here on the forum. I'm talking brush, mug, soap, and double edge or straight razor users. I started wet shaving due to irritation from cartridge razors. Then I got my grandfathers 1964 Gillette Super Speed after he died and had it revamped at Razor Emporium. It is my go to razor now. I have a few other modern DE razors and one Dovo straight from Razor Emporium.

The other benefit is the savings. A 100 pack of blades last me a year and are around $15.00 for the ones I use.

Replaceable straight blade?

I think that's a safety razor. I am kinda interested in the replaceable blade straight razors myself. I have a couple old school straight razors for beard maintenance. I can get them useable on an Arkansas stone but I haven't invested in the whetstones and stropping setup for a super nice shave.

Mine is this one from RE, it is at their facility getting honed so I can’t get a pic. http://www.razoremporium.com/5-8-dovo-straight-razor-shave-ready-new-with-case/

The replaceable blade straights are known as shavettes, it is how I tried a straight for the first few times. I only use a straight when I have enough time! Shavettes can be purchased at most Sally Beauty Supply stores or MANY places online. Some take half of a DE blade and some take “hair shaping” blades from Sally’s.

I will get some pics of my setup once everyone is up. I recently sold quite a few razors that were just sitting. Hipsters don’t mind spending money on Vintage Gillettes to keep their neck trimmed, so I let most of my yard sale finds go.

Send those straights off to Razor Emporium, West Coast Shaving or Maggards. Or one of the independent home masters out there. I have the waterstones and strops to do it, and can get a decent edge, but not like the guys that’s do it for a living. I can tune mine up, but mine fell out of the cabinet and chipped the edge. The guys at RE can hone it past the chip and make it like new agin, sans some thickness.

Don’t remember the last time I actually shaved with a razor... but it was many years ago. Every once in a while I will cut off my beard with hair clippers though. I just don’t see the point in shaving.

I'll tell y'all a little secret about the electric beard trimmers.
Always keep an old one that the blade is a little less than sharp.
The used blade doesn't leave quite such a sharp point on the beard hair ends.
Use the new trimmer for weddings and funerals, etc.
Save the old one for when you're going to make contact with her neck or something.
