After getting my new Homelite EZ automatic today I realized I’ve become addicted to small saws. Between it, my Powr Kraft 2.8, my Stihl 015 and my Olympyk 935DL i’m digging on all these little rippers. I have a newer Mac 35cc but it’s not the same. I like the straight stack, high reving noise of these old little guys. What other units should I look for? Open to suggestions.

I can set you up with some small Poulan saws, anything from the 1800 series up through the 25's.

FWIW the Poulan s-25 at the time was both a small firewooder and an arborists saw .One of the most under rated saws of all times but one of the best .Everybody sold them the under different names and painted different colors .The first chainsaw I ever bought circa 1974-5 and it runs better now than new .One carb rebuild and one fuel line replacement in all that time --not bad .

I might mention on the above that saw brand new sold under the Dayton brand name set me back $139.95 .I had to Mastercharge it,no money .It paid for itself in about three days cutting firewood for 35 bucks a loaded pick me up truck .Try that with a brand new 661 Stihl .:tiburon:

Power Mac 6 or PM6, will hang right with the XXV saws, find a nice 10-10 or PM55 and a 7-10 to appreciate the tough old birds.

I have 2 10-10s and a 6-10. Nice units but still bigger than the little guys.

I also agree that the XXV is a powerful saw for its size Or also the Poulan 250 (actually the 25D).
Another pretty powerful saw in a small package is the Stihl 009L. That one isn't a top handle, isn't a rear handle, not sure what it is but they're a pretty handy saw. I had one for years and mostly used it in construction.

020AV Super (different saw entirely than an 020T, which basically became the MS200).

This one now has the tophandle setup, but I don't have any pics handy of it that way.
