I just picked up this vintage Hahn cast aluminum deck today, I may use the engine that I have sitting on it now, it's a close period correct engine for the deck......IMAG0192.JPG IMAG0194.JPG IMAG0195.JPG

Actually the guy I bought the Hahn deck from had several mowers for sale, kinda wanted the L/B bricktops, but the green one is froze up, the commercial one I may go back for, it still has potential.....00R0R_6ol5wturbRb_600x450.jpg 01111_6BPCBiHqCkW_600x450.jpg 01313_4f6sLFx2X7F_600x450.jpg 01717_iTKILGQaBZS_600x450.jpg

We had an Excello when I was growing up, my had decided to upgrade to a Toro self propelled around 1964, it was not nearly as good. Not sure what happened to the Excello, must have been junked at some point.

Also had a Homoko (or was it Homko) heavy duty self propelled. It was like a bushhog on wheels, ended up putting the engine on a homemade pump for the garden.

Well it turns out the crank is too long on the wind up start engine so I opted to use my 1965 vintage Briggs 82900 series engine, most people don't realize how short of a run there was on this series, the 82500/82900 engines, these were the first series of Briggs engines to move the carb to the other side away from the exhaust, they have a threaded intake tube and a cover plate at the intake port, the pic I posted of this is not from my engine, only to show what the intake looks like, these only lasted about a year or so and then replaced by the very common 92000 series engines, I only had to clean and reset the points, change the oil and replace the air filter on this engine, it's the first time it's ran since I bought it a few years back, it's running in the pics and should work well on this deck......IMAG0196.JPG IMAG0197.JPG IMAG0198.JPG hqdefault.jpg

I like those old ads , it was a whole different world and mindset back then .

Life was slower , people took time to enjoy life and quality products were made to last .

Here's another tough to find Briggs 6B-HS variation, this one is circa 1954, it's the first variation of the 6B-HS, it used a small adapter intake manifold to the carb, this version was short lived, it's the only one I've ever found, I gave five bucks for it with a bent crankshaft, gave it a full restore with a N.O.S. crank, it's one of the best running early Briggs mower engines I have, yes, I still own the engine, disregard the lawn boy mower it's mounted to, I used the L/B deck while I was restoring the matching L/B engine for that deck, I just had to know how well the early Briggs would run, I wasn't disappointed......a couple pics showing the early and later 6B-HS carb/intake set ups' as well....DSCF0032 (2).jpg 00041431-00002.png $_1.JPG
