Have never tried milling but son in law bought 16 acres with trees and I'm going to give it a shot. Since I'm an old guy and cheap, I thought about using a Timber Tuf for the first cut and then a Zozen mill for the planks. I would really appreciate any recommendations before I start with my proposal. Thanks, Tom

Save yourself years of toil and frustration and buy a bandsaw mill. Even a small cheapo BSM will run circles around a chainsaw for standard dimensional lumber. I understand it’s an entirely different budget, but the boards will be worth it.

If you have the means to transport the logs and stack them by the mill, BSM is the way to go. If you are hiking out into the sticks to get a the logs then CSM all the way. I started with a timber tuff 24" and they are trash but got me hooked. Next purchase was a granberg 48" with quick release handles and roller guide which has served me well. I just bought a Panther Horizon mill and can't wait to set it up. Looking forward to the roller handle height adjustment and the ability to swap chains while the saw is still in the mill
