Stripped it down and done a muffler mod got rid of the limiter caps
Retuned and it’s running better but not as well as a ps-32

There’s not a Torx stud in sight all Allen heads or posy drive
You know I have said this before Andrew ....I really think most folks overlook the ps-32 as just another low cost small cc home owners saw !.. cheep they may be, poor they are not. Value for money in there market sector I think they "shine" as well as perform so much better than most who have never used one may think for 32cc. Taking out the cat from the stainless steel (that in its self is higher grade than most ) muffler is a benefit on this saw that uses 4 spring AV and a hex port cylinder design.
Small saws are often overlooked for saws with high HP and long bars !!

Need a Dolkita experts opinion. If you had to choose between a 6401/6421 and a 6800i which one would you pick and why? I’m looking at both and can’t make my mind up, drawback to the 6800 I’ve found is finding bars. Thanks.
Maybe @Lee H needs another 6800 to fill out a shelf?

So who was 'Sachs' in the 'Sachs Dolmar' name? Was this a merger before the Makita purchase, or just a variation on the Dolmar brand name?

Thanks.

Did Husqvarna made the plastics for the "100" line?
Those are by far the most colorful Dolmar's I have ever seen.

To my understanding Sachs was the co-owner of Dolmar and they sold their ownership to Makita in the early 90's or so.

Yeah the plastics are colourful on these pair there 1986 & 1987 I think a little of the magnificent sevens pigment went into this plastic

6mm gutter bolts there only filling the holes this muffler was meant for the
Long bolts , but this cylinder has the short 10mm studs so had too do a
Repair too fill the worn bolt holes

Didn't know there were bolts of different lengths and different mufflers.

"Sachs" was the Fichtel & Sachs AG, a then very big automotive supplier (clutches, suspensions etc.) and a small engine manufacturer as well. Fichtel & Sachs had bought Dolmar in the early seventies and since then, the Dolmar products were named SACHS-DOLMAR.

Fichtel & Sachs later was bought by Mannesmann, and when Mannesmann itself was taken over by Vodafone, its subsidiaries were sold. Fichtel & Sachs was acquired by ZF, Dolmar by Makita.

Yes this muffler had the long round bolt tubes inside and there was no way this muffler would fit without removing the tubes
Below is a photo of said bolts needed

Some of the early tank/handle units have turned into sunflower-yellow, AJ's saws aren't the worst in this respect. You'll find early 112 and 114 with the same colorfulness ...

But there were "native" yellow ones as well, one of them I have shown before, the second SD 33 is here:fertig_oben.jpgfertig_rechts.jpg fertig_links.jpg

This is the blonde one with yellow hoods.
And here are both my 33s together:

The rear one must be older than 1986 since the rear handle is sleek and hasn't the pseudo leather structure the one in front has.
