They are indeed fun to hunt, and very intelligent. I hunted them in Fl a few years when a few of us leased ground for that purpose. They learn real quick.

That said, they are hard on the environment and real tough on the farmers. I would not want them in PA. The game commission wants them killed, any way any time you see them.

Schwackin hogs is a ton of fun! They move quick after the first shot so it helps with training for follow-on shots. Hunted them with multiple firearms from handguns to FA rifles. It was actually a lot of fun popping them with an AK. Some people poo-poo using 5.56 on big hogs but I haven’t had any problems. Several of the places we have shot hogs donate the meat to soup kitchens, so when we go there I bring the AR10 in .308 and concentrate on head shots to not waste or taint any meat. 175gr out of a stainless 24.5” barrel is pretty impressive against a 350 lb hogs head at 30yds.

I bought a Stag AR hunter in 6.8 SPC to hunt pigs. Unfortunately I had a bad fall that year, broke my leg, developed blood clots as a result and ended up in the hospital for a week. So did not get in on the lease that year. Then the hogs moved off the property pretty much because the farmer left his cows back in the brush where we mainly hunted. So we have not leased it since, and as such have not had the opportunity to use it on pigs.

Locals with dogs in FL do the same. They also catch them and then do canned hunts in fenced in properties with them.

I'm too old for that insanity.....and, like I said, it's not helping to get rid of them.

I'll use a gun on every one I see. The damn things tore one of my hay fields all to hell last winter.

PA Game Commission has a bulletin out to shoot any hogs on sight, except for in designated areas, where they are poisoning them.

We have enough pigs here in the form of commercial hogs. In the last 5 years, I was involved in the building of 2 hog farms with 5,000 sows each, in our local area. That's 10,000 mommas popping out litters as quick as they can, to keep us all in bacon and pork chops.
