It can be hard to dial in a rev limited ported saw if your not used to it. Fat will kill the power and too lean will kill the saw obviously. Using your tach, try tuned right where it bumps the limiter and see if it likes that. If it does then lean it 1/8 turn and test again.

A limited coil will protect a saw, that’s why they did it. The misfire above a certain rpm will cause fresh mix to be drawn in, but won’t be burned. It’s not totally idiot proof, but it does work.
It is very different than tuning my Stihls, thats for sure. Hard to tell if it's stroking in the cut or the rev limiter is kicking in or both.
It's never gonna fatten up enough to get off the limiter. Drilling the passages in the carb can make it impossible to tune lean enough.....so, I just drill the seat.
If you fatten it up out of the wood till you hear the tone change, it's gonna be a bit too fat. So....take it there, and go back toward the lean side just a taste.
