Hey man, I don't want to get too sappy but there's this 2 compact-disc album from the 90s that's really special. One particular song, the lyrics will really uplift you if you're struggling with bills, the repo man, a break-up, constipation or whatever:

Wutang Clan
Song titile: dog shi t

"But pardon me bitc h, as I shi t on your grass
That means ho, you been s hitted on
I'm not the first dog that's s hitted on your lawn
Ho yeah hey e haa
Ho
Ho yeah hey
This is dedicated to all y'all b itche s
De hah
Ho yeah hey ne ha
Ah"
Hmm...that may be uplifting to you, but that does not lend itself to helping me. 🤣
We generally keep it about 99% profanity-free & kinda on the Positive - Spiritual Vibe.

Here is my initial objective and endgame for this thread, back from Day 1 Aug 3, 2020

Guys,

The world hands us an overwhelming amount of hate, fear, strife, division, misunderstanding, lies, bias, and failures daily.
I'd like to accentuate the positive with these threads.
How about a place to stop in and share and receive something really positive, uplifting, and encouraging?
Maybe its a poem, an insight, a thought, a classic helpful cliche, a slogan, a thought provoking picture, words of hope, a beautiful song, a great story, an life-changing experience, the power of love, purpose, fulfillment...whatever as long as it, SPEAKS LIFE---POSITIVE----SOLUTION ORIENTED.
Please be honorable and refrain from bashing, dog cursing, porn, or politics.
Bear in mind I operate in several metrons: Evangelist-Social Worker-Substance Abuse Counselor & I have 20 yrs of Recovery. So most of my stuff is going be to exhortation, building, challenging, thought-provoking, yet NEVER will I deal in condemnation nor will I sermonize! LOL

We heated with wood when I was a kid. Daddy had a Homelite XL, a shortbed Dodge pickup and me. We cut firewood for our own use and we sold some wood too. I got $5 per load we delivered. Big bucks in those days at that age.

Back then we had more time than money so it was a necessity. Every Saturday we were cutting or splitting. It was just what we did and I understood that we did it because we needed to. Kids don’t often understand necessity now.

He found out about the cancer in 1982, I was 12. Radiation treatment took a toll, he slowed down and lost a lot of weight. He borrowed the money from the bank in ‘85 to put in a HVAC with propane furnace. I was so glad at the time…

I would give almost anything to go back to one of those days, in some old woods behind somebody’s field and be with him again. Just working and talking. I learned how to get stuff done from burning wood. I learned that sweet self satisfaction of seeing something through when you’re tired and sore. I learned how to talk to a man and how to understand the subtle cues another man gives that you only get when you work together.

He had his demons. I had my own too. He was just trying to do what seemed right and now I understand that it was his first attempt at life, just like I am having mine. He died today, February 4, 1990 at 50 years old. I am 55, will be 56 in June and I wonder what it was like in your 40s knowing you were going to die. Looking at your kids and wife and home and all the rest and wanting so desperately to protect it.

I think I burn wood for him. I get out there all by myself and I cut and split and stack it. I talk to myself, I talk to God, sometimes I talk to my dad. I bring it here to the house and I fiddle with the stove and stare at the flame sometimes. I hear his voice reminding me how to do it, warning me about some of it, laughing about the rest.

It isn’t about just heating. It’s really cheaper and considerably easier to just run the heat pumps or use the propane. But it’s not about what’s easier or costs less money.

It, somehow, is about healing.
