Was looking for Stihl Picco usual 3/8 low profile 0.050 gauge chain today and thought I had been using the most aggressive full chisel version of Picco chain but was surprised when the chain I thought was best was ANSI green instead of ANSI yellow at the dealer. I'm much more familiar with Husky and suffering from Stihl Picco "tis confusion" ... hoping you guys can clear things up!
For our 200T and Echo CS211, power pruner and this small 170 thing a friend has they all take Picco 3/8 x 0.050 guage and it's just drive link counts that vary. But -- what is the least anti-kickback / best cutting ?? I've found:
For instance 55 drive link I've seen:
63 PM3 55 -- this seems to be semi chisel green ANSI and not the most aggressive?
63 PM 55 -- the above w/o the "3" in the marketing number - ANSI yellow full chisel?
63 PS3 55 -- Would this be semi chisel but ANSI yellow instead of green like the PM3 ?
63 PS 55 -- I can't even tell if this chain marketing number exists (via google search) and is it ANSI yellow and full chisel thus most aggressive and thus what I would want?
The above have the marketing number but then they also have Stihl part # to make things even more confusing.
I'm looking for picco equivalent of LGX oregon chain where there aren't kickback prevention features, it's full chisel but still round ground filed w/ 5/32" file and cuts the fastest. Not worried about cutting in dirty wood where semi chisel may last longer -- it seems since Stihl chains use harder metal the full chisel will do fine.
Is there some other marketing number not mentioned above I should be looking at?
I'm all consfused -- I found some Stilhl chain charts, but it seems lacking in terms of what various types of Picco are out there... Hoping you guys can school me a bit here! I believe the first 3 numbers above are real, and the final 63 PS 55 might not exist...
Thanks.
