As an update I ended up with an aftermarket Stens Speedfeed head. At the dealer we compared the Shindaiwa/Echo one side by side and they reall looked identical. The Stens one was about $20 cheaper. According to him that is the head our city parks department uses and they have never brought him a broken one back.

So far so good as far as I am concerned.

I have the oem speed feed on my 94r but I also have a Stens on my bench but havent used it. Ill throw it on my fs250 and see what its made of!!!

That Desert Vortex Stealth Line is the meanest stuff I've ever tried and not only on the 94R but the FS131. Cuts crisp and clean like a meat cleaver and tough as piano wire!

First time I used mine today.love this thing.i had the 91R.brought it back for the 94R.91R is heavier but quiet and lots of torque.i just didn't like that 4 mix.my head seemed to work fine on this.but whats the attvantage of the echo head?I seen there easy to re spool.

That Echo Speed Feed is nice. Stihl is fine but Speed Feed is the tits.

I get into some rough and tumble stuff at a Boy Scout Camp I volunteer with chainsaws and weed eating. The 94R I've never reached a point where I say where is my bigger trimmer. Unless it is small trees for the circular blade on the FS131. If they ever quit producing a 94R I'll be buying one of the last ones available!

Stihl cf3 pro .095 is awesome on it

Running .105 line in my speed feeder thingy ,it fits too ,have an old fs80 with handlebars i bought new many moons ago ,thing still runs after all these years must be the blue oil .Can you move the guard out 1 inch by using 2 of the 4 bolts like my older machine ? The extra bit of line is nice .

Essentially the same but to get the proper adapter for Stihl you need to buy the Echo or the Stens version (according to my Stihl dealer who also sells Shinny).
