Howdy folks. Last year I bought a new fs56rc straight shaft trimmer. I decided on this model because I'm not a commercial user but I could still put a brush blade on it. Now I have acquired several kombi attachments that I can't use. Does anyone know if I can change the shaft to a kombi style? If so, where would I buy said shaft?

They made a km55 kombi unit, which would work easily.

The attachments may bolt right on the end of the 56. I have never tried.

BTW, the km55 rarely sold, so call around. Some dealers may still have one on the shelf that they would "love" to sell!!!!

My local guy had one on the shelf last fall, he finally sold it. He never came down on the price far enough for me to buy it.....

I considered that model.. but it only came with a curved shaft at purchase. I believe its the same engine just a kombi model. At the time a brush blade was cheaper to buy than that package. I'm wanting the shaft from the engine to the coupling to make my 56 a kombi trimmer. Any thoughts?

I can't remember who it was but someone on here put a Kombi shaft on a Stihl fs250 with success.

Now two years around I did something like this with some Troybilt stuff and it worked. The kill switch and stiff the was on the handle stayed with head and just the shafts switched. Might be able to just go to the dealer and get the shaft that hooks to the head.

Thanks everyone. I'll see what the dealer can do. Does anyone have a fs 56? I've found it great so far but does anyone have long term use?
