Hi all,
Does anybody know is the stihl easyfile can be used on different chains just by swapping out the round files for the correct ones?
I am trying to determine if it is necessary to buy another easyfile or just the new round files.
Thanks in advance đź‘Ť

Hundred Acre is right. I`ve tried putting different files in but it`ll throw everything off or not fit if you`re trying to go up in file size. You`ll need to get separate filers.

When I used these I personally hated them. Being heavy handed I had a tendency to put too much downwards pressure, bending the round file and taking too much off of the raker. Another arborist recently told me he uses them to resist the file flexing but he takes the raker file out. Figured I would share that tid-bit of knowledge

If you are sharpening regular 3/8 chain you have to use the one with 13/64 files. The one with 7/32 files is for 404 chain and won't work on 3/8 chain. I already made that mistake.

I have used the 7/32 / 0.404 guide on my 562xp with 3/8 chain and didn't notice any problems. What did you encounter?

The guide bars in it are spaced further apart. Especially evident in a half worn chain, doesn't ride on the top plates correctly and can file the rakers too low.

Who needs rakers? Grind`em and growl... :squezer:
