Can anyone decipher Stihl serial numbers?....I'd like to know what year it was built.

This fell out of the saw when I was cleaning it, anyone know what is and where it goes?

It locks in the orange (or black) choke/stop shaft on the rhs of the carb box.

Yep - it goes under the filter base.

Scallywag, your camera takes really good Pics and I have always thought that the MS 660 Mag is/was a really good chain saw. I've rebuilt several top ends on them and installed tank handles. Loggers through the years have figured out several way to demolish them and I still have one that I bought nearly ten years ago. Is this a 660 or an 066? My IPL for the 660 is identical to your pic in Post #7.

How can you tell that from the numbers? Looking for the year on mine as well.
