That's what the guys in Redding are saying- the 462 just doesn't have the guts for west coast falling. The two guys I talk to are pretty happy with the 661, 461, and are even still running their 660s.

My best buddy who is cutting in Cecilville right now for the helicopter is sticking with the 660 and 661.
I have to agree. It’s always interesting to me to see regional saw size preferences as well. Some guys here use a 661 size saw with a 28 or 32, and some won’t even consider it until at least a 36.

A fair amount of guys run 20's on 661's here although a lot of guys are running 462's now.

Just saw a few videos of a guy on FB, Tom Fales Jr. An older guy with lots of experience. He is cutting redwood and fir in Mendocino and running a 462 with a 32. All i can say is whoever did his 462 got plenty out of it.

Just wondering if anyone had any info on when we can expect the Arctic Wrap version for the 462? I spoke to my dealer yesterday and he still wasn’t sure when we would see them here.

Just wondering if our friends across the pond had any info on what’s going on?
Dealer says they are in the system and he can get them although he would not commit to how long it would take for them to arrive. These would run a guy 2250SEK shipped with the swedish post assuming the package weighs between 1-2kg.

Thanks for getting that info for me. I may have to wait until they arrive in Canada as over $300cnd for a handle is a bit steep lol. I do appreciate you taking the time and figuring this out, they obviously have them I’m just not sure what the hold up is getting them to market.

No worries my friend, never hurts to ask.

What group are those videos in? I'd be interested in seeing those. TFJ is well known for getting more out of a saw than most. He has some really good videos of him falling timber in the early 90's running a Poulan Pro 475 that was turning a 42" bar and chain. I have a two-piece head he did for a 372 and it's pretty sweet.

Thanks - I'll check it out. I'm interested to see if the 462 would work in big timber as an out-of-the-box saw. Most guys won't have access to
performing extensive modifications so it would need to have decent torque as a stocker in order to make it in big timber here.

IMO the 462 was designed as a shorter bar saw 20-28 and the 500i was designed for guys wanting to run a longer bar 28-36. I think they missed the boat on the design of the 500i as a production/bush saw, but that is of course my opinion. I was just up in Fortuna and talked to the guy at Wildwood saws and he was saying that the rep told him that the 461 will be in their catalogue for another 18-24 months and then there will be coming an injected saw to replace it.

Is this it? Sounds like it has a limited coil...

I've got a couple of 462 Arctic wraps on order as a test. One is spoken for by Shane and the other is available still.

Nothing firm, but the price is looking to be in the $150ish range including shipping just so everyone knows.

It's better for me to order multiples of these at a time, so if anyone is interested, I'll make a list and place another order.

Correct me if I am wrong but you likely need an Arctic saw with all the other components for this to work?

Your prices are pretty amazing Dan. They cost me 150-160 before 25% sales tax and shipping.

Ι'm not sure what retail is here....my dealer gives "Danny's price" as he calls it. Lol. He gives me a mechanic's discount since they don't have a service center.

A few months ago I asked for a price on these and list was near $300 Cad$. I am going to try to get one from Dan.
