What will happen when the 400.1 hits the market? Will the OE become coveted or obsoleted? Will we see the 200T scenario?
I really like the styling of the point one and like zip over grunt, so I think I know which one I would prefer 👍🏻

Is the .1 a smaller displacement? I worry there will be less on the table for porting.

Seems Indiana Doug has posted a couple shorts on YT of the 400.1. One of them shows the cylinder, piston and case deck. Idk if I like the looks of the piston skirt as far as porting goes…

Yes. I’m not sure the exact numbers. I think that generally there is less on the table for all newer saws. I’ve said before “they’re onto us”

Last year I ran a ported 400 that sold me on the model. Very appreciable gains.
I could see the 400.1 being like a 462 where the 400 is more like a 461.

I wonder if any production of it will take place in the USA? They did layoff 1/3 of the work force in Virginia almost 2 years ago, so maybe not. I noticed the example in the referenced video is an arctic version, probably not available in the US.

What is the 200T scenario ?

The 201 was an utter dog when it first came out. It met the EPA emissions requirements that the 200T no longer could, but was noticeably weaker than the saw it replaced.

Even though they have since put a lot of spice in the 201 (it comes with a domes piston among other things) this immediately gave the 200T legendary staus.

Much like how the X-Torq Flavor’s debut made the 372XP OE an immediate icon. People don’t like changes being made to their favorite models.

Could be wrong, but I believe it's dropping from ~67cc to ~62cc.

That is what it looks like.
I got rid of my last new 400 Saturday. I was going to get some 400 Arctics from Europe but right now I am holding off a bit. The site lists them at 62.6cc and the older 400 at 66.8 cc

Before I laugh or put my 2 scents in.

What is the 200T scenario ?
Right or wrong the 200T has somewhat of a cult following. There has been a guy on FB trying to trade a well used one.
He says in his ad that the cash price would be the price of a new 201T.
Yesterday I asked him what that price would be.
He said $750
I said just this week I sold (2) new 201T's for $685

Ya I know, I use them all extensively.

I bet this new version of the 400 is gonna be the ducks nuts.

I don't watch things about chainsaws so I'm not entirely in the know about all the talk around them. What I do know is there is the same exact trend every single time a new saw model comes out, I try not to laugh because it seems disrespectful..I remember the speculation on the 500  guys thought it was gonna cost 2500 bucks...I could go on and on..the things people say are hilarious.

I can't name a stihl saw made right now that I'd rather have it's predecessor, and I bet this new 400 won't be much different. It may have a growing pain or 2, but when it's all said and done I have no doubt it'll be a worthy tool, the 562 set the bar high..I like the new filter coming on this new 400 and it's overall style from the few things I'veseen and read, I'll bet it handles good and makes power in all the right places for a guy that kills trees for a living.

I’m with you! I had a 441 for a minute.

Speaking of 200’s, what ever happened to Lone Wolf? He was flipping quite a few “back in the day”
