So the postman will arrive bearing both a ported MS241cm and a new type II ported MS261 from Mastermind.... I'm excited thinking about it.
Don't be scared of the single nut, I think it's great. Been running one nearly every day for almost 2 years and hasn't missed a beat...Nice little ported saw. Holds RPMs well throughout the cut. Not a fan of the single bar bolt.
Not sure I am completely sold on the Mtronic carbs just yet.
Looking forward to see how these saws compare.
Id rather have 1 nut than none!!Don't be scared of the single nut, I think it's great. Been running one nearly every day for almost 2 years and hasn't missed a beat...
I have saws in near all cc classes, unless the wood is on average over 18"/20"s I use my ported MS261. Get the 362 double felling dawgs & chain catcher! Very tough capable saw the 261, good air filter, good power, 3003 mount bars only crud thing is the 'micro' spline clutch drum. You can get an Oregon drum & run regular small spline sprockets if you wish. 261's won't roll over when sat down either.Ya could be interesting
Been thinking about this for awhile, sometimes the 241 is a little over worked when I'm felling Sugargums and the 261 weight is slightly more and could do the job easyer

Precisely my reasoning, given the recent weight reductions of the 261. Keen to see if there is some sweet spot where it can handle bigger wood on occasions where i don't want to break out a bigger saw, but still be light and nimble enough to replace the 241 on smaller stuff. I guess only time will tell. Also, whether there are any weight reductions that kill the saws longevity.sometimes the 241 is a little over worked
Is it a pricey fix? Is it something the saw owner can do or is it a dealer job?
