A friend is rebuilding a 046 and he said he measured the clearance between the crisn of the piston and cylinder at 0.028". What is the normal range for a stock saw?

That’s what I ended up with after installing an oem 0.3mm base gasket which they refer to as ‘high compression’ on a 460. The original gasket was 0.8mm thick and was probably close to .040” squish. My saw says Magnum but it seems to mean different things throughout production.

If you wanted a better squish ? You could always fabricate one out of a beer can or something that is the required thickness to get you the desired squish.

I did this the other day on a ms150 as the silly oem gasket was about 165 thou thickness where as the beer can was about .0030 and gave me the 17/18 tho squish I wanted for this saw
Iirc you need a slightly bigger squish on a bigger engine (20 thou
