I've got a 012 on my bench that's leaking fuel into crankcase. After looking around some I'm finding out they could have used to different gaskets? Should I just make a gasket? Thanks in advance.

Well sometimes you need the gasket to keep the crank shimmed right. No gasket it could jam . I would make one and check the crank to see if it spins freely after together.

You sure the carb isn't the culprit?
Weak metering spring, worn needle, stiff metering diaphragm......etc, would cause that as well.

A client has an 012 that runs and cuts great. Head and shoulders better than an 011. Must be the displacement makes the difference.

No problem
which carb it has makes 1000% difference. The early ones had a pretty narrow venturi as I recall. the 009/010/011's should all have 38mm P&C's and the 012's had 40mm (all from memory).

OP,
Yes use a gasket but use a thin layer of yamabond, 3bond, dirko, hondabond, etc on both sides of the gasket. They are a bigger PITA to seal than normal crankcases since you are needing to seal oil tank, gas tank, and bottom end.

Yes there are 2 different gaskets!!! just get the kit

MI GO BLUE!!!!
My 011 is paperless. Just use a generous amount to assure you don't have a leak.

We have a winner!! I rebuilt the carb and it's running nice. Thanks for the IPL.
