HELP! Spraying flat black rust oleum oil based enamel?

I'm cleaning up my car frame down to bare metal and going to prime it with this https://www.grainger.com/product/RUST-OLEUM-Self-Etching-Primer-Self-Etching-4YLC3. I bought this for the paint https://www.grainger.com/product/RUST-OLEUM-Interior-Exterior-Paint-Exterior-3ZHX1. I've got a black widow hte gun from harbor freight with I believe a 1.3 mm nozzle and a gallon of acetone to thin with. Think it can be done with the gun I have? Anybody run this paint through this gun before? I'm thinking thin it 2:1 and lay it on thin? Any advice greatly welcome!!!!

If I recall correctly, Rustoleum takes just regular old paint thinner to thin with. Which I've done with good results, should say on the can what to thin with.

Says acetone. I'm more so trying to figure out if I have the right gun and how much to thin.

Well then, there you go, just remember that stuff is pretty nasty to breath in.
Might have to experiment on thinning.

I’ve use Rustoleum rusty metal primer, mixed 50/50 with lacquer thinner. Went on nice and didn’t take forever to dry.
Also painted the metal front door with regular Rustoleum white, same mix. Sprayed before lunch. Put it back on the hinges after 6 hours. I think acetone will work well!

Something like chassis saver or rust bullet is probably a better choice.

The experience I've had is that it works great if everything is absolutely perfect but if water gets under it just holds it there.

Just like any other coating… prep is the key. They will all fail if not prepped correctly.

I have some small surface rust spots on my Honda Accord. I'm planning to grind them to bright metal, add a bit of spot putty, and then paint over with Brownell's Aluma Hyde medium gray. Aluma Hyde is a very durable epoxy based coating for firearms and outdoor gear. The paint on the car already doesn't look good but is holding on in most places. I figure this should at least keep the rust from spreading until I sell the car or paint it for real. We shall see!

Well I did 550 grams of paint and 100 grams of acetone and then 2 capfulls of majic hardener and it sprayed quite nicely through a black widow 1.3mm hte gun.
