Wait, what the consensus for hard woods on a 461? The factory isn’t getting it.

Probably not. They may be getting them back to all be interchangeablemlike they used to be on the 044/64/66.
I have some that look like those that are stamped 1128, I think they were coming from the factory on the R models most recently. The 1122's are the same tooth pattern except without the oversized bottom spike. I like them both for different applications.

There's hardwood spikes for the 1122 that have the bottom pointing up. The R spikes all look like those

Custom clutch cover spike that I made for my Sachs-Dolmar 105.
I utilized a piece of a gang saw blade to make it, the teeth are those of the saw blade.

OEM clutch cover spike that came with my Sachs-Dolmar 108

The SD105 and SD108 are identical power heads, they don't have any provisions intended for a PH spike.
Luckily the clutch cover is massive Magnesium and it is held to the PH by two fairly spaced bolts which gives it a strong fit.

What are thoughts on a ported 362? Bigger dogs or not? I like having the protection of them, but don't want something that is grabby.

I run MS362R dual spikes/roller catcher kits on my modded MS261's they are a good size for that power range. I'd just use them. I've tried 660 spike & 4 point ProSafety spikes and while they look great, the saw stands up when placed on ground, and they become really grabby putting a bunch of stress on your chain, sprockets etc. The 'R' spike kit is also the good solid metal like the old ones not the thin pressed nasty ones.

Do you happen to have pet numbers?
