Thanks, I messaged him an offer and he's firm on his current price which is high, going price on a used is about 600-1,000. Probably why it's been listed for 3 months.

His price is actually fair with all that has been done to that saw. Used or not. There is probably an extra grand in that saw.

Not sure what all had been done to it, never heard of mastermind. I'd be stripping it to the crankcase, porting a new cylinder and make a race saw out if it. So all the mods are worth nothing.

Like how specific he was in his post? Lol I made him an offer he declined that's his right to sell it as a worksaw with the mods, I'm just saying I wouldn't be buying it for how it sits.

You’re new here so there is a lot for you to figure out. Sounds like you want a beat to death stock solo for your purposes.

Maybe new to this forum but not new to chainsaws like I said I don't know who Mastermind is but I know who Joe Johnson is and Greg Brewer and John Reilly, mark eckhart (posthumously) Nice of you to make assumptions on what I want or need. It's a simple iso post. Y'all don't need to stampede together to defend Randy or his build.

I looked a long time for a Solo to race with. Ultimately I built a 500 and a 7910 for less money than the only decent 681 I found.

Mark was one heck of a builder. He did my Solo 680 - it has a two-piece head and large-bore HL. It's a stock-appearing muffler alky saw.

Mark absolutely was the man, if this was a 665 that he built I'd pay 2,500 or more for it. Mark and my boyfriend were really good friends and Mark ported the cylinder for my boyfriends 681, my boyfriend and his father in law then developed a nitrous system for it and it's in the top 5 cubes in the nation. I just finished building my 681 nitrous race saw, my porting is definitely influenced by Mark and the numbers were seeing out of it are an improvement.
