No mate. Penns are for writing.

Shimano TR2000LD.
I have a pile of penns.
Most are shore casting multipliers.
Some are 20 years old.
The older reels are a hell of a lot better than the new ones.
Same with daiwa. Daiwa are discontinuing all their best selling shore multipliers, crying shame.

Yeah I was being a bit cheeky.
Old JigMasters are bullet proof, and if you need a non bait-runner egg beater 6500SS are k.i.s.s too.
Plenty of Daiwa in my stash too. Just refurbished a classic Grandwave 40 as it happens.

Got one today, had a bobber down, and nothing on thre slow hookset. Left that hole for another spot for about a half hour came back and got this one to stay on,, played it out really well to the end, grabbed the leader to pull it up on the bank and my line snapped. The fish was still in the water flopping, and i jumped in past the fish and scooped it up on the bank! Got water in my boots, it was really cold on the toes! Not the biggest fish he's caught, but a significant one
All summer he's been preparing a riding mower as a tractor, and a trailer, and doing drag mods etc.
First trip on his own and he brings home a 14inch specimen. Him, just him, no help. You can just make him out to the right of the yacht in the 2nd pic.
Landmark day.
