Got my little 2 1/2 lb hatchet handled. A little large for a 12” but the ergonomics are good.

The one wedge that came with it wasn't enough to do the plus/cross and make it fill end to end. Halfassed it with a piece of oak that wasn't quite big enough to make it fill the eye and match the width of the bigger wedge .

Don't know if this is clear enough to see but it is a Winchester axe. I am not crazy for axes but still hope some collector will give me crazy money for it. Comments? Mike
Super cool piece. I don’t know much about the value but I’d bet you could do pretty good selling it. How you been buddy?

I got myself a Husqvarna axe for Christmas and so far I really like it.
Sets a wedge like a champ, bright orange so it’s hard for me to lose and it’s actually a pretty good splitter.
That being said it’s just a tool, nothing purty like the other axes in this thread

I got this one handed to fix.
It was abused as a wedge banger and in Croatia splitting wedges are usually steel.
I am going to grind a V into the crack and weld it, then fortify the top of the head by welding on steel flat stock.
I actually like this ax head style, it is somewhat related to my Dragon Slayer.

It seems to be made out of good steel by the limited wear of the blade.
It is also well centered eye-to-blade.
Must be some old school craftsmanship.
