Please share your thoughts on this video regarding the rings and possibility of embrittlement.

I think his claims are a little far fetched. Maybe that broken ring is just an F-cast ring.

I know hes focused on blaming the oil, let's not turn this into an oil thread. I want to know if anyone has actual experience with using a non-cast iron ring in a saw and having it become brittle like he claims.

I think a torch may have been involved behind the scenes. No way in hell a ring is gonna twist several times without annealing it first. Some serious agenda promoting going on there

True that, that ring has been annealed; of which I would be more concerned removing a ring like that than one that breaks in a brittle fracture. Annealing would remove almost all ring tension and it wouldn't seal at all.

Try twisting a brand new ring like he did... it will snap just like the one he's claiming has been hardened while running.

Thanks for that. I'm not 100% sure what the saw rings are made of. I've heard the Caber F-Cast were brittle and easily break if your not careful installing them.

Most guys don’t realize that Meteor supplies F-cast rings will all of their single ring Husky pistons. I sure didn’t until I looked one day.

A reliable source has told me that they supply Husky with them on some models.

Point is that many guys bashing the F-cast have actually been running them all along without issue.

The ring he twisted up is a steel ring. Weisco uses steel rings for saw applications, he simply does not know the difference.
