If you're running an aftermarket bar that requires it, you need to keep the nose greased. I've done it different ways but came across the Tri Link plunger style greaser. It was about 7 bucks.

You all know I'm not big on Chinese tools but this thing is pretty cool, and HL Supply probably sells them or can get them. It didn't have much in the way of instructions, but you just mate the tip to the hole and pump the handle till you see grease. It came full of grease, BTW. If it's not re-loadable by filling the handle where there's a screw cap, I'll end up takin' it back. I can tell you that much. But if it's refillable and lasts a year or so, this thing is very cool and handy.

I'm makin' a couple new maul handles in case you're wondering. I bust up a couple every year so I just make them from 8/4 American Hickory. lol

Don't worry junkman. I knew I was kicking the nest. In my mind at least, I wish the OEM bars were made to take a toot of grease. There's no doubt they are smooth and last a long time. It boils down to how much you work the saw and how much of the time the tip is buried, really. The attracts dirt gang doesn't have a leg to stand on.

They seem easier to use than the little allot cast one I have with a thumb button pump/spring. I got mine from baileys 5 years ago and its been refilled many times. Some you have to buy cartridges which I don't like. Being able to refill them with your preferred grease you buy in bulk is good. I run canola bar oil so tip bearings get greased.

I was just making noise fellas. I do not grease mine but I have one that is acting up pretty much locked up. I broke it free and put a needle tip on my grease gun and pumped it full it hasn't locked up completely yet. It will fail soon I have no clue whether it would have lasted longer with grease or not In theory it should. Bout like drilling the small hole in a sealed bearing so you can add some grease.

For the record. I use the cheapest bars I can find on my 50cc saws I use most of the time. I'm talking 20 $ power match from ebay if I had a sugi or total or expensive bar I'd probably lube those tips just for the sake of taking care of them. For the junk bars I use I don't bother This conversation is gonna have me pondering a new thread. What grease is best for tips and why I'd prolly go crown an chassis high pressure

I just use the red R2 grease I use on the Equipment.
