Removal of Husky 262 oil pump?

I saw MattyO's video of the worm gear removal, but how do you get the oil pump off the worm gear? Got it loose but it doesnt want to come off and dont want to force anything. I also have a 261 with clutch driven oil pump that I'd like to transfer over to one of my 262's. Any info would be appreciated.

Judging from pics I've seen of the oil pump, it should just pry out once you get it away from the oil line. Is that correct?

You talking about the brass gear on the crank ?

No, the actual pump. I know the brass worm gear is press fit onto the crank, but how does the actual pump come off. Looks like it should slide off the worm gear but doesnt want to come off. I can lift all 4 corners of it a little bit, but thats it.

That oil pump should come right off. You can always try to manually reverse-rotate the crank from the flywheel side.

IIRC, you can straight swap over the worm gear and clutch drum from the 261. The oil pumps are the same. Study an IPL, there may be a washer that needs to go in before the worm.

I am pretty sure there are a few threaded holes in the pump body that you can thread some bolts into to push the pump off.

Have you got the washer off? That was the problem with my last one.

I will go home and look at it again. The one with the clutch driven worm gear (the plastic one) came out real easy. Didnt want to force this one. THere really is nothing to them. Good idea Warped5. i will try that since I've got the bolts out. I like Stihl's design a whole lot better.

Yes, the pump is the same as the clutch driven one.

Carefully hit that washer (that exSW mentioned) with a little heat and it should slide right off.

Didn't have to apply heat. Got a little screwdriver and got under the washer and went around the circumference til it popped off. The oil pump came right up. I like the idea of the plastic gear, easy on, easy off like Stihl. Well now I know how that works. Next I got to rig up a puller to pull the worm gear. Thanks to all

I know you are all set, but to get the oil pump itself out and get the spiral washer free I used the method Mattyo uses in this video from 25:00 through 27:00
Use 2 screws and drive them in on each side to pull the assembly off. Quick and worked great for me.
