LAME! Lol!!

It was here too until recently, but there was never an issue getting the good stuff and unless you were an idiot you could get away shooting them off
Most people get away with it, I talked to the fire department about it and they said if you have a gated property and the gate is locked your fine, they can’t enter, but if there is public access they can, and federal land is a big one! If you are “trained”, apparently there is a license to get, and then you can put on a show, or get hired to do it for others. A few people have them here

My camera phone is not that great but this photo is pretty cool.

Mines worse lol.
Great job, even capturing those shots can be tough.
Maybe one day I'll have a nicer camera, problem is I'm not into buying things that will be obsolete so soon.

When purchasing a phone, I tend to go with what is more robust over what has more features. I just drop them way too often. I like the Sony line so far. Haven't killed one yet by dropping it.

But when it comes to cameras, loads of bargains can be had if you know what you're looking for. Granted, it's the Indian more than the Arrow when it comes to photos. But if your bow is a huge pain to use, yer not gonna get off as many shots, and you occasionally may just leave it at home and bring an axe instead. So you do want the camera to be well designed and have good guts

Most phone cameras are junk. The best ones are hard to use junk. Yeah, you can occasionally get a great shot, but that is not the rule. It's a tiny sensor and a tiny lens, and not much processing power reserved for it VS the rest of the phone. They can only do so much.

Most recent APSC sized cameras are great. Even consumer models. I actually mainly use a consumer model Canon M3 nowadays because I can put it in a coat or hoodie pocket. It still has the controls I need to make adjustments to the image before I snap it, but it's really designed for your average consumer. It still has a great sensor, great lens options, and decent AF(after a recent firmware update), and is easy to use shooting in manual modes. I paid €275 for it and the lens. I'll put up a few pics from it and from a Sony A7s I got as a birthday gift. The Sony A7s is a top of the line full frame digital camera with uncontested dynamic range regardless of price.

Here's some images from 5 different cameras I have used. They vary hugely in price, especially lenses. In fact, one of these images is made with a super sharp prime lens on a super cheap camera body(I paid like $150), and another with a super expensive body and lens.

I had to make a new post coz even I got confused which was which. So the photos go:

169191584.bNYBFOma.jpg

A7s with super sharp Nikon wide angle lens - 12mpxl full frame sensor. About a $3000 combination.

Then:
169441551.wxc2SvfM.jpg

Canon M3 and it's surprisingly sharp 15mm-35mm zoom lens - 24 mpxl sensor. $300 or so for both, and my main rig for walking about. I prefer Canon colors nowadays to all others as well. Unless you photoshop it, it is difficult to mimic them in other cameras.

164950096.aL4X6sLX.jpg

Sony A7(non 's') standard full frame and 28-70mm Sony lens - 24mpxl sensor. Told you guys I tend to shoot thru windows. A $2k camera when it came out. I got it as a christmas gift 2 years after it debuted. So it prolly cost my cousin 1200 bucks or so at the time.

The second photo of the country market is the Canon M3.

Then a curve ball -
164588567.P52OlrIZ.jpg

A Sony NEX6 from 2011. Super sharp 50mm adapted Canon prime lens, tho - 16mpxl sensor. A 190$ combination since it is a manual lens from the 70's and cost me like 40 bucks.

164389727.JsyHpQOS.jpg

Same Sony NEX6 for the signs, but with a super cheap wide angle Sony kit lens. I did not process the image to look that dreamy, that is how sharp the lens is! So one can use it, its propensity to flare and lose even more contrast, to ones advantage. If you want to do landscape, tho - there's much much better choices.

169457376.wWmnDikc.jpg

And this is a knuckle ball. You can tell once you zoom in there's not as much detail or dynamic range as most the other images. But who zooms in to pics other than a print maker? The grave pic is made with a 2003 model Nikon D2h, which was outdated even at the time I took this image in 2007. It was $4000 when it came out and is wearing a $1000 lens. It has a 4 mega pixel sensor. I got both the cam and the lens used at the time for $750. Though the body was heavy, it did have a huge amount of easy to use controls, could take 8 photos per second with full AF tracking, had ridiculously fast flash syncing for the time, and one could easily bludgeon a walrus to death with it and then take photos of the aftermath due to it's robustness.

Did a pile of research after my favorite flip phone died after many many years and went with a durable, rugged, water proof , mid functional, wireless charging, cheaper phone than something that cost twice as much. Kyocera duraforce pro.

I will never use any smart phone to its full capabilities. My most used app is for the weather / radar and get/send maybe 15-20 text a week. If I want to communicate with someone a make a call.

Oooooo! Winches are your friend on a mill that size.
20190428_131152.jpg Just depends. A little incline with about 15° angle so the cutters add to the feed & all I have to do is push the handle to keep nose end from dragging. At 60" of bar I learned to add auxilary oil to cool the loop on the return. Next time.

I took my firework pics with a Sony HX80 which I hate cuz it's a couple years newer than my Sony WX220, but has much worse image quality (super noisy in comparison). Just comparing what cameras I have: a Sony H2(old) & HX80 (new), and a Fuji T410 (old) & XP140 (new) all are significantly noisier than my Sony WX220, which unfortunately doesn't have manual settings, and I thought it was on the noisy side just being a small sensor. The annoying thing about the Fuji's is they reduce noise in strange linear patterns, so the noise looks like a bunch of lines or blurred moving dots (a dark spot with a fading tail going in right angles: up down left right).

I hate it when you quit getting notifications to a thread an end up 3 pages back...

Some random woods pics. This area had been logged. Almost all regen is oak..

We got new neighbors again. Asshats with the race quads moved, so no more listening to them tear around during bow season 20 minutes before sunset..but, replaced my no trespassing signs just in case!

Yeah, the lines are usually called banding. If you look at the corvette image I posted, there's slight banding in the shadows I lifted. The newer sensors are good at avoiding it and have much higher dynamic range to start.

I know for most it's a pain to have a phone and a camera, but a newish apsc camera can do miracles even in auto mode.
