Beartooth pass between Red Lodge MT and Cody WY.
This will be the first year we are not in the Black Hills in quite a few. We would have stopped in Spearfish like the rest of our bunch, but we needed to get home to the kids and work.
Oh nice, Beartooth has to be one of my favorite rides. We usually camp in Cody when we go down that way.

There is a official local recycling yard, there is a local scrap yard, there are unofficial scrap collectors roaming the streets every week - and still a tractor lead/acid battery ends up thrown into an illegal dump site in the bushes.
That is a ~25kg battery, it cracked having been thrown and the acid is all spilled out.

I was on foot with my pup, couldn't just take it along for proper disposal.

This illegal dump site gets set on fire a couple times a year as the trash accumulates.
Recently it got dozed over with dirt and stones.

Not as bad as it used to be, but not unusual at all around here to be driving a dirt road thru the National Forest and see appliances that have been tossed down into ravines or dumped off a cliff to end up beside the river. Trash dumping their trash...

But do they pile their old tires, milk jugs, soda bottles ...........next to the creek in the back yard and let high water take care of them? Common practice where I worked at one time in E. Tennessee.

Not so much in my immediate area, but the adjacent County is more mountainous and comprised only of small communities scattered about. Not unusual at all to see those piles of debris along the creeks when float-fishing through. I guess to them high water conditions mean trash pick up day.
Reminds me of one of my late father's sayings, "It doesn't take all kinds of people to make the world go 'round, but there's all kinds out there"
