Mill got "fixed" only a couple weeks ago.
X-Axis including servo motor blew after the most ridiculously small needle bearing opposite to the servo crapped itself and completely fell apart seizing the spindle and frying the servo.

This mill is on its fourth X-Axis spindle in under 5 years of operation.

Good job DMG Mori!

And, YES - my orders are to reset the machine and keep running it!

P.S.:
Yes, it says Z-Axis.
Though only because its main spindle is rotated CCW and the machine transfers "Z" to the X-Axis.

P.P.S.:
Just got a tooling mismatch due to the Z (X)-Error.
After resolving it I immediately got a "Spindle vibration in extreme range" warning upon attempting to resume processing.

Nice!

It was up in Maine , the Dead River, about with a Hydro Dam release, was awesome,
Nice, thanks, I'm envious!
In the fall they do a big release on the Gauley River not too far from us. Seems like there are 4-5 class 5's on the upper Gauley run. Kinda funny, I've spent a lot of years canoe and kayak fishing but never had been in anything more than relatively short class 3's. One year for my birthday the wife has me just get in the car to go somewhere for the weekend, no clue where. Turns out she'd booked us on the upper and lower Gauley overnight trip. We didn't tell the guide until afterward that I was a rookie, apparently it's somewhat frowned upon, but I call tell you, with the grip I had on the seat wasn't any way I was getting 'pop-corned' out!
Hoping before I get too fragile to do that again, what a rush!
We've run most of the New River rapids, and they're a lot of fun, but a fair bit calmer.
