I have a few larger ones somewhere around here. Picked them up several years ago off eBay with some smaller flatfish. Most places around here sell the small flatfish for $8 or up now days. That's getting too hard to swallow for the few times I trout fish. I can pick up flicker shad that I use for crappie and walleye for less than $3 sometimes.

The whole point of newer cars is they are not easily fixable. That way, they can sell more cars. And if you do fix your car, the dealership gets to wear you out with a 1500.00 bill for starter replacement (under the intake), or the timing chain (like in your case).

It's not about easy fix anything anymore - it's about the money

For example, look at Deere products. Have to have a tech come out to fix a sensor issue because it's VIN locked to the vehicle.

It's about the money but it's also about the consumers pushing for more features and stupid crap.
If you are referencing the Cadillac Northstar for the starter under the intake, that's not a major repair. It's about a 45 minute job tops.

Starter under the intake of a Nissan 5.6 or a Toyota 4.7 both pay less than 2.5 hours and both require intake removal. Starter on a GMC Acadia or Chevy traverse require removal of the catalytic converter. Calls for .9 hr.

Cars are not specifically designed to be hard to work on. The EPA wants a bunch of stuff on there for clean air and that complicates everything.

I have a 2009 Toyota Sienna with 205K on it. Had to fix almost nothing on it. Replaced the tie rods and other normal wear and tear front end items; several batteries and belts, and the #2 coil. Still runs like new. It will probably blow an engine now that I have bragged about it.

My brother in law just got one of those for a “work truck” Fuel jelled and he’s pissed about a $135 diagnostic fee and having to buy a fuel additive. He’s really gonna hate it when he’s going 20k between oil changes and no maintenance.
