Girlfriend was out in the back mowing with Ol' Reliable, heard her screaming from the garage...turns out the stupid plastic fuel inlet elbow decided to crack and spew gas on the head pipe....thankfully my at least 20 year old extinguisher still had some juice...

Went to take a look at a 1996 cat d5 today. The guys neighbor went for a joy ride on it & buried it deep in the woods on the side of a mountain. The track snapped & she hasn’t moved since. It’s hard to appreciate how steep this is from the pictures but my best guess is it’ll never move again. Some of the hills he took this think down on the ride are so steep the only way I see a dozer going back up is with a winch or by cutting a new road down the mountain. It’s crazy to think a machine he paid 45k for 5 years ago is now nearly worthless simply because there isn’t a good way to get to it.

What's the full scoop on it? Is he selling it, is it free if you can get it out, do you know if it runs? I know at least one guy who would be interested in checking it out. It reminds me of the D5 my dad used to have.4EE81E35-A543-4449-892E-041D01651BAA_1_105_c.jpegB9CC0FFA-2AEF-4AED-AC90-4B6BBB0A6C40_1_105_c.jpeg

Yessir he’d like 7k for it. A challenge it’d be!
Well, there goes my interest! $7k for me to get it out would sound fair considering it'd take a week or so to extract it, but me paying that much to go on a week long expedition to reassemble, refresh, and retrieve a possibly seized an already trashed and wore out machine is a big ol' HELL NO! Even if it had 1650 hours that wouldn't be worth it. I'd suggest he get his head checked! Ah well, rant over.
