You're certainly welcome here. Late summer would be a good time - like most places, Labor Day weekend is the last hurrah for tourism here and then it gets real quiet.

There's a couple of local trails near here right off 101 where you can see some big trees, like 80" diameter big and 160'-200' tall.

Yeah, the off-season is a great time to visit - you can get stuff for half of what it would cost in the summer. You can see live music here in several of the nightclub/restaurants for free
in the fall-winter-spring.
I agree with both of you, the off season is fantastic here! Spring and early fall are really nice! It always depends on the year! My normal trip to reeds port averages 3hrs, my best is 2hr 38m and worst is 4hr 15m and that’s with me knowing the best times to drive! A Labor Day weekend drive home at 7 oclock will be a 4+ hour journey, right now it would be 2:45-3hrs. But even in the dead of winter it can be a three hour journey because of the severe rain and traffic, the severe rain storms can make traffic come to near standstill. There are definitely some dead zones in my trips, the area between Yahts and Florence and from Pacific city to Tillamook are also crucial to tourism, the curvy roads and inexperienced drivers make that difficult, but as @jacob j. has said Lincoln city can be a disaster! Lincoln city has really no side road bypasses to avoid the main stream traffic, I have heard a four hour wait to get through Lincoln city alone and the stretch between Newport and Lincoln city can be horrendous with depot bay sitting in the middle, depot bay is a beautiful spot and worth stopping. I don’t like the mainstream tourist destinations, I much prefer my quiet beautiful locations, Neptune is a sweet spot to stop most people never stop there because it’s on the inside of an outside sweeping term if you get a chance to stop at Pacific city it’s not a bad spot, it’s just gotten a little touristy over the years, but the pelican brewery makes up for that! There can be an hour and a half to two hour wait during the summer to get a table, and that’s pre-pandemic it’s still a quiet and beautiful spot during the off-season. Netarts is a very quiet gem that goes almost completely off the tourism radar, it’s several miles off 101 with no way out except for going back to 101! LOL Oceanside is near the end of hwy 131 along with one of my favorite beaches, short beach, there is no parking spots available for a short beach and you just park next to the highway, there is almost 1000 steps down to the beach so that detours most! Then there is cape mears lighthouse,I am due up for a visit and pre-summer rush!

Your deer evidently can't jump as high as ours can.

Been doing the same thing the last few evenings. Gonna have to finish the post tomorrow before the big rain storms gets us. Have 7 more post to set.
If it dosent work for the deer I'm going to just turn it into goat pasture or get a cow.

Here's a pic from last year about this time, putting up our garden fence. I can report back that it worked great - no rabbits or deer got in.

Post setting for the vegetable garden. Crimson clover is on the outside perimeter of the fence. View attachment 292682View attachment 292683View attachment 292684

Got all my post set this evening. Will set the brace post and wrap the wire in a few weeks to give the post time to set in.

This road is a mile long IMG_20210428_172535.jpg
In 1985 through 1987
I worked for a farmer and rode a tt500 yamaha through here everyday
At 6am and back home at 6pm
No headlight.
The *a-hole that lived next to the creek would dig out the creek to make it deeper
And threw barb wire and glass in it.
He didn't want anyone using it
Even though it's actually a public road.
I caught him throwing wheel rims in
And made him get them out
Of the creek.
He dug the creek so deep I put a snorkel on the tt made out of radiator hose.

He had his truck parked in the creek
For some reason and
Both windows were down.
I rampaged on the tt 5 or 6 trips and filled that truck full of muddy water.
It was a new truck at the time 1985 chevy scottsdale
He wasn't a happy camper.
He died a few years later
We never understood why he was so hateful over a damn creek.
