May I ask what year Dodge. Mine has had the pump replaced. The mechanic said there was a weakness in the design. Could you speak to that?

It was on an 06 ram 1500 with the 4.7. I have put one on my dad's also which is a 04 with the 5.7. They definitely have alot of lateral pressure applied to a pretty small shaft.

You ain't kidding. I ended up pulling the shroud and just took the pump out with the fan still attached. I then had to bust the old water pump off so I could fit the pulley in a vise.
