Quiet as in not much on display, or just nobody showed up?

The show keeps getting smaller and smaller in both aspects. A bunch of manufacturers no longer show up, so local dealers go in and set up a few bikes. We all want the full factory line to look at. A lot of the aftermarket has leaned down too. The only participants growing are the insurance companies. Their displays are getting huge.

That really sucks.
From what I've read, bike sales are down over all types. The younger generation seems to have no interest in riding.
I'd like to get a motocross bike again, but they still want crazy money for clapped out bikes around here. I miss thrashing around my old RM's

No doubt. I grew up on a dirt bike and miss it. Couple years ago a friend let me ride his KX450f all day (he was on his 250 2stroke). I had a blast and felt like I went through a war the next day. If I had the land, I'd have one, maybe someday.
I think, at least part of the problem, is insurance rates for these new riders are absolutely insane. When I was still at the bike shop a couple times we heard just crazy quotes from guys looking to buy and it changed their decision.

Sometimes knowing your limits is being more of a man than pushing the limits lol.
Better to have your card revoked than to have it squashed while in your pocket.

I think people are getting in the UTVs more now that so many areas are allowing them even on city streets. I think that is what is driving tourism right now. Snowmobiles use to but the lack of good winters in areas have even cut that down. Plus kids are so busy during the school year i don’t feel people doing much vacationing in the winter anymore. When I leave for work the local batting cage has people there and that’s at 530-545 in the morning.

I can agree with the UTV thing. Especially compared to a sled. I went on the Ski-doo website a few years back, out of curiosity, built a new version of the 04 I spring ordered, came to $15k...
A UTV can be used in most any weather/season. A sled, not so much.

That’s true,,but at 18k-25k stock, it’s too much! I know several people that spent 30-35k on a side by side! It’s crazy! And they trash them! Roll them, hit trees at 40mph!

How much they going for in your area? 1500-3k is the used market here, and at 10k for a new bike it’s reasonable

If you search hard enough, you can get clapped out mid 90's ex-racers in the $1500 range.
Newer, 2000 era is 3k and up.

Are you looking for the golden era RM with the right side up forks? It seems like some of the vintage MX or‘s that have been restored, Are bringing some really strong money!01 CR 250 is always brings strong money and surprisingly the 02-07 CR 250 is getting some pretty serious money, I would like to find a mid to late 80s CR 250 in nice shape. But I may settle for finding red plastics for my 500! LOL

No, I'm not picky. I'd just be thrashing it around my property, until it broke or it broke me. Likely the latter.
The last one I had was an 97 RM 250.

Can you imagine riding that Repsol bike .
I walked into a dealer I used to get parts from a while ago, they had a brand new cbr1000, I said hey you got my bike in, he says you want to take it for a test ride to make sure your happy with it . He was serious and asked me if I had my helmet, no way am I getting on that thing, I'd be in trouble so quick...
Similar to the post you quoted of mine, I know my limits, id be on the back tire at 100 and I don't need to be doing that stuff on the street anymore, but if they offered it to me at the local track.
