Took my Yukon in for state inspection and the dealer told me they couldn't pass it because ther rear pads were gone and needed replacement. They "measured 0 mm". I was pissed because I just had the rims of this spring to pt summer tires on and knew there was plenty of pad. They were happy to offer new rear pads for $350. Mind you I just had them fix my A/C which was nearly $600...

I told them I would pick it up and di ther pads myself. Here's the drivers read pads. Doesnt look like "0mm" to me!

I measure 1/8" to the wear bar. :cursing2:

Im not a certified GM mechanic. Are these guys trying to make a quick buck @redline4?

This is why I have little faith in dealers.

Not known as a Stealership for nothing...

Not known as a Stealership for nothing...

When I had my 2006 Dodge Cummins, I took it to the dealer for a oil change (had a coupon for $64.95!)... I asked for a quote on changing the fluids in the front and rear diff, trans (6 spd. manual), and t-case. Their quote was almost $1000!!! What the actual *f-word makes an hrs work and maybe $100 in fluids cost that much money?!!! I bought top of the line fluids and did it myself for about $250.

Granted this is more expensive than the stuff the trucks use, thats only $33 a bottle.

I dont set the prices. I just fix broke stuff.

This is the fluid used in our AWD suv rear differentials, on the hydraulic clutch side.
Different fluid goes on the gear side.

Yeah, I gotta buy some NV4500 oil and I guess it’s kinda pricey. I’m just not sure why the guy I bought it from thought he should drain the fluid out of it before selling it to me.
