I obviously did not take the above photo but some history to go with these pics. My Great-Great-Grandpa and my Great-Grandpa where sawyers in Greenbriar County, WV. the 12hp Frick just didn't have the power they where wanting so they got wind of this 50hp Case engine around 1930. They purchased it in Versailes, KY and trucked it back to Greenbriar County. 10 miles from home an axle broke on the trailer. So they steamed it up and drove it the rest of the way home. My Great-Grandpa told me the story how his dad drove and fired the engine while he found anything to burn on the way. he would throw fallen trees under the axle and the weight of the engine would splinter it enough to fit in the firebox. at one point when they went through a town and there was no trees to feed it he had ripped pickets off fences to keep her going! That case engine still exists but has sat as you see it for around 25 years. the current owner will not sell it and just lets it sit there in the elements.
