You couldnt leave anything edible on the table. She could reach it.

Got blastmycosis. Survived that with lots of expensive meds. Then, 2 years later it got her. Scar tissue that had formed in her lungs ruptured and there was nothing to be done.

It sucks to lose any of them but when you lose the good ones it's ever harder.

Went out this evening to intercept a deer during the last few days of our muzzleloader season and the rascal tracked me down. She just laid down and didn't bother a thing. No deer showed up though.

Don't get me started on dogs. I did a lot of volunteer work for Greyhound rescues over the years. I spent a large chunk of 2012 and 2013 volunteering full time at a Greyhound rescue. Here's some of my hounds I've had over the years:

And this is one I stole off the travellers not long ago:

a disgrace to all Irish people, down our way travelers don't get any more warning shots. Lurchers are the most affectionate dogs I ever owned

I didn't chime in on the travellers thread in the arb forum. As you can likely guess, working in Greyhound rescue as I have in Ireland, I have met and run into and dealt with a large amount of them(especially since they refuse to speak with the female volunteers we had), and have nothing at all good to say regarding their kind from personal experience. I rather enjoy stealing their hounds as I know they have a policy of holding the pets of others for ransom after thieving them, and that the hound I take will now have a decent chance at a decent life.

Is engine oil supposed to look like this?

He had it changed 7800 miles ago. And with nothing but that crap on the dipstick, wonders why it run like chit.
I changed my 2006 Cummins oil every 10,000 miles and never had an issue... the service manual recommended every 15,000 for normal driving. :)

Not even the same ball park. Diesel fuel does not break down oil like gasoline. Diesel fuel is a lubricant and gasoline is a solvent. Diesel engines biggest contaminant in the oil is ash. Thats why it always looks black. If you ran a good bypass filtration system on a diesel to remove the ash you could easily go 25k or more on an oil change because the oil breaks down at a snails pace in a diesel.

In a gasoline engine the oil breaks down at an alarming rate due to the gasoline thinning the oil over time. The gasoline also lowers the lubrisity of the oil over the life of the oil. The oil then basicly just starts to "boil down" into sludge.

It was a GM 2.4. Well known for consuming oil.

Oil change intervals is a topic that could go forever.
Personally I change my gas truck at 3,000. Wifes vehicle with Dexos at 4,000 and my diesel at 4,000 with Delvac.

You can fight oil change intervals almost as hard as oil brand! I see the effects of long oil change intervals on gasoline vehicles every day. Just like oil brands, you eat what you like and I'll eat what i like!:)
