I love those 2.4 ecotecs too for the same reason.
How many OCV solenoids do you do daily on those?

Dodge Caravans have always been job security on 4 wheels too!

It varies by the day, some days it's none, some days it's 6 or 7!

You ever get to see them freeze the pcv orifice and blow the rear crank seal right out of the block?

What about the cylinder walls? You hone at all (with the crank in)? I have an acura that needs new rings, been putting it off, too long.

GM does not advocate honing...
They say what looks like hot spots in the walls are ok and normal.
It feels strange just jamming them into the bores with zero measurements, but thats what they say to do.
I have done, no kidding, hundreds of these and never had a failure.

Actually with the new low tension rings, I tear into them at 100k, you can still see the cylinder cross hatching from new.

We see at least 2 a week. I see the 2.5 has weak OCVs too. Haven't seen that yet. Have had a few where the oraface is damn near sludged up. Seen many with the chains so streched they break guides from slapping them to death. Or the ballance shaft chain in the oil pan.

Wait until you get a 2.5 that explodes the oil pump/balance shaft assembly drive chain sprocket. Good times

How do you guys do brake lines there. Do you use pre-bent parts or do they hand you a bunch of 1/4" line and unions? I know being in Wisconsin working on Chevys you guys do brake lines!

We can throw it in the trailer behind the shop. That money goes straight into the service managers pocket.
I called them out on that years ago and was told if I wanted to deal with my own, I could.
Rotors and such I stack on a pallet behind my shop. Small stuff I fill 55 gal drums with and load those into my truck with my skidsteer and grapple.
Its bought me a few guns and other items over the years.

For the trucks, which seem to need them the most, the GM line kits are what we use. Prebent, all lines except the ones across the rear axle.
And they are not very expensive.
Otherwise, its bulk tube, bend, cut and flare as needed!

We use stainless prebent kits from Dorman. About the only thing from them that isn't complete crap.

The old Cadillac Northstar right there.
I loved working on those pigs.
Everyone was scared, but they sure paid my bills for a while!

Now, my bills get paid by the 2.4.
In my opinion, the best engine GM ever made. Easy to work on, always broken.
This one got what I call the 100k tune up. Pistons, rings, and chains. Also needed a catalytic converter and exhaust manifold.

I agree, many bikes are as bad or worse than most cars are for space to work.

How much does that 100k tune up run?

Starting a new house basically on the beach
Sometimes I miss the construction days, but then wake up too 18* mornings in Tennessee and say no I don't miss it lol. Had 16 years in it. It was enough for me when my knees, ankles and hips started to give up on me. Kind of a shame to at only 33 years old.
