It’s an np440, 4x4, it’s a 4sp overdrive, they are kind of hard to find they have almost identicle ratios to a 700r4 but a manual, It’s going in a 69 GMC long bed, with a 468 big block
Never even heard of that.... had a few SM465’s, but obviously they have completely different gearing. Sounds like a cool project.

Ya they are rare, it a variation of the hemi 833 four speed, they are pretty tough and shift like a car transmission, Even come with a Hurst supercop shifter.

From my understanding they came in early 80’s chevy pickups, vans and el Camino’s but you had to order it, through the copo program. I have seen one el Camino, a couple of 2wd pickups and s couple 4wd, I also think they used it in some diesels.

Yep that’s it, mine is a 32 spline output shaft vs the 27. I like that shifts much faster than a SM465 and is sncronized in all gears, and for this application I don’t want granny low first, it’s more of a street preformance truck and sand/mud, not a crawler. If I was crawling I would keep my SM465, but shifting is so slow and for most driving you are doing a 2-3 shift. I like the feel of an nv3500, just wish it was stronger!

I’ve got an NV4500 sitting here, ready to go in my Jeep, along with an LS-1 pulled from a 2002 Camaro...
That’s going to be cool! I have a nv4500 as well, but I haven’t got it in my blazer, more parts to gather!! Lol I haven’t driven any rig with an nv4500, have you? I know the np440 isn’t an nv4500 but I am curious how it will work out! Plus it was only $250
