I never realized Nebraska had an accent.
In the early 80s' I had a vacation job in the Fairfax, VA area . I came back to NE for a short time, went to Summit County CO and boxed myself into a job. To get it back to short -- I did a moonlight job putting in a huge window as a way to meet some locals, some extra cash, and some season ski passes plus gear.
When Explaining to the owners how a guy was to do this, the gal (Teresea , A 1/2 owner and first time seeing me) came into the future job site , listened then said you are from Nebraska. She probably saw my Truck and Plates, And I inferred that had to be how she knew.
Her answer was no, it was my lingo and mostly how I SAID IT . I replied that she sounded like one of those Virginians. Turned out she was a Daughter of a HVAC metal supply business in Alexandria VA... Her and her business partner were quiet for a moment.
